Happy fun time (part II)

These are addicting. First time around I did a faux-Engrish thing. This time I thought I'd be a little more socially conscious. So here's my latest bit of supposed brilliance.

Ceaseless diversion!

Gosh, I get a kick out of these. This one is a nice bit of a change because of the after effects. Made me smile.

Talent creates...

So, yeah, I saw this on the SilentMouth site and promptly stole it. Basically Chevy is doing a little promotion where you can build your own commercial using bits and pieces. Needless to say hijinks ensue. So, here's my contribution to the decline of western civilization. Build one of your own!

Fireside chat

Well, I don't do these actual "sit down and chat" posts that often, so I thought it might be time. Things have been a tad frustrating at the ol' website o' love for the past few weeks, and it seemed when one little crisis had finally blown over a new one would happily plop right in its place.

At the moment I'm listening to the downward spiral (in it's Dolby surround glory) and just taking a couple moments before plowing forward in an edit/rewrite of "Death Comes to the Happy Acres Mobile Home Community Park" (which appeared a while back on the ol' Fiction page...) It's hard to believe how old the story actually is. I remember when I wrote it but it doesn't seem like it should be as long ago as it has (although, rereading parts of it, it definitely does seem to be an "early" work...) In other words, for all you kids out there let me assure you, getting older does pretty much suck, although certain bits of experience and wisdom do tend to counteract the overall suckiness of the situation.

So it's been an uphill climb on the Features front lately and I do apologize for the lack of updates (I'd apologize more if you'd all buy more goodies from the store--see that? That was sly guilt-based advertising...) rest assured it's not for lack of effort on my part. Part of the situation is a job-related thing that doesn't allow me near the flexibility to pursue some of these as I should like. No excuses though and I'll continue to redouble my efforts.

On a side note, anyone else notice that finally Sci-Fi picked up the new Dr Who's? Good times.

Happily, Opening Day is only a week and change away so I get to watch the reigning NL Central champs break in their new ballpark. Huzzah!

Also, there's a little Platypus Man/Joe/NEP project that'll be gracing the website soon. It'll be a kick, just working out the last kinks on it now.

Well, I'm glad we had this talk. Now tuck your shirt in and comb your hair.

Just another Friday

It's Friday and so here's a healthy little bit of "What the Hell?" for your weekend. I don't know what this is for/from, but, yeah. It is what it is.

So ya thought ya might want to go to the show...

Well, it was bound to happen eventually. It's probably going to be gone soon. Accursed lawyers.

Anyway, some enterprising individual has posted the whole of Pink Floyd's the Wall (the movie) online in a flash viewer.

So, smoke 'em if you got 'em and enjoy until the writs start flying.

R.I.P. Kirby

I like baseball.

I like good baseball people.

Especially ones from, oh, say the 80's and early 90's which had their share of good guys but a lot of total douchebags. I will miss Kirby Puckett. I suspect I'm not the only Cards fan that'll say it, either, but despite some of his personal demons, Kirby seemed to be a standup guy and a good ambassador for the game--not just his team or himself. I could launch into one of my tirades about greed and selfishness and certain players who elevate themselves over the game, but there's no need--especially when you have an example of a franchise guy who helped a small-market team win and helped his community at the same time. There aren't enough Kirby Puckett's in baseball--or in any sport right now. It seems that he's gone before we really had the chance to get his personal life straightened out and come back to teach the new guys how the game is supposed to be played.

Who plays the clarinet with a wookie anyway?

Well kids, your Joe has not foresaken you. He's just been mad busy. And just a touch phlegmy. But just because his mucus producing bits hate him, please don't infer that he's lost any affection for the lot of you. No siree.

Anyway, things progress slowly. Always busy, although sometimes with more impressive things than I've had as of late, but never fear. Anyway, once again Transbuddha has come through with this little gem. The later parts probably are little hokey, but that open riff. It's tasty, I tell ya...
