I don't care if Monday's blue

Well, not to further belabor the point, but you should get yerself a copy of All Things Right and Beautiful. All the cool kids already have their copies.

Secondly, sorry for the lack of posty-ness this weekend. I saw some very bad movies ("Alone in the Dark" and "Hide and Seek") and slept a lot. I also continued to work on getting the next Feature for you all - and it seems I may have had a measure of success on that account. Stay tuned of course, but looks like there may be a couple rolling your way a little later on. I think you all will be pleasantly surprised by who might be dropping by - but I don't want to jinx anything.

Anyway, I'm kicking back not watching "Garden State" (playing in the other room where I had fully intended to sit and watch it uninterrupted) and mulling some things over as far as upcoming projects and the like. Baseball starts in a little over two weeks and that tends to mean my schedule is going to be filling with games, commentary and more frequent visits to Ray and Brian's enclave, the Birdhouse. More news when it becomes available (or as I wish to release it) but I'm hoping to have maybe something a little fun for our 1 year anniversary (coming in March!)

Well, here's a little novelty to check out in the meantime: a mirror made from an electronic eye and wooden tiles. Tis neat.

Great song

Just kickin' back a-listen' to old music and this beaut popped up:
Smokescreen
(Mike Roe)
Paid all my money and what did I get?
Left in a smolder like some cigarette
I smoked every pack of lies made yet
I never read that little warning that said:
"I'd be an eternal soul with an eternal crave."
Cashed every premium for this flip top grave
When I locked my heartand threw away the key
Now I'm left with nothin'
Nothin' but me
Simple and classic. Good stuff, Maynard.
Buy All Things Right and Beautiful

Well huh...

Well, it's been an odd week. Not in what happened, really, just an odd feeling in the air.

Ok, I'm lying. There is more to it than that. I've hinted at changes, and it seems that I might not have even really had a grasp on what I was saying. Things are... volatile at the moment. I have figured out a few things:
1) Emmy Rossum is the most aesthetically pleasing human being on the planet.
2) Andrew Lloyd Weber should be shot
3) Joel Schumacher should be moved to an undisclosed location... and left there... a long time...

My review of "Phantom of the Opera" is likely to start that way and something else I've been batting around probably will, too. Like many things, it's a work in progress and I'm not likely to talk too much of it. I am, however, waaaaaaaay past due on a piece for the Birdhouse which I intend to do tonight. Let me be the first to send out a big ol' "Sorry Ray" for it being so late.

So where does that leave us? Not sure, honestly. Trying to has out the next couple o' features and figure out little bits of life stuff at the same time.

Anyway, this is for Christophe (der Soul Stealer) Enjoy...

So what's going wrong?

Well, I apologize that the lil' site hasn't been chugging along quite as prolifically as before. Initially it was primarily so I could use the time to get things together for All Things Right and Beautiful and finish work on lilies of the field. Well one is done and the other is on hold (my gear, my gear, why hast thou forsaken me?) but yet things haven't picked up. Sorry about that.

In all fairness some of the insanity at work is catching up with me, some of it is when it's -30 outside you don't much feel like doing anything aside from grabbing a blanket and huddling near something warm. I wish I could give a better list of excuses than that--having cancer or some such thing--but alas no such good excuse is to be had. I've continued working on the new novel-esque project but work is slow at this point and I wouldn't hold your breath on much coming about any time soon. So am I slacker? Am I loser? Possibly, but I'm starting to gear up once again. I've started trying to round up some more good folks for the Features section (there's still one that's mysteriously disappeared...) and hopefully I'll be able to report more work completed on the album soon.

So call this an apology or an explanation, whichever, but know that 2005 is going to be a rockin' year here at Joe-Mammy.com and the fun's about to really begin... you know, once stuff starts working again...

If you're looking to kill a LOT of time, check this out--classic fun for your inner geek...

Viva la Clint!

IMDB is fun. And sometimes informative. But usually just fun. Check out this latest bit of joy for instance:

[Clint Eastwood] said, "Michael Moore and I actually have a lot in common - we both appreciate living in a country where there's free expression. But, Michael, if you ever show up at my front door with a camera - I'll kill you." And when Eastwood noticed the audience had erupted in laughter to his threat, he emphasized, "I mean it."

Now me and Mr. Moore don't see eye to eye on a lot of stuff--for example he thinks he's God and I think he's obnoxious. But you gotta love it when, if even in jest, The Man With No Name, Dirty Harry, Josey Wales, William Muny et. al., says he's going to kill you if you bother him. Let us all sigh with on heart with a gleeful smile and proclaim "America: land of the angry loners--leave us alone or else!"

Anyway, something big is coming. More soon.

Going the extra mile.

In a continuing effort to make this the rawkinest lil' website I can, I try and push the envelope to get more of what you want on the site. To that end I've been on a continuing (if occassional) harrassment campaign (which until this point, I've kept largely to myself) to try and woo a certain Mr. Bruce Campbell to come hang wit' us on the Features page for a bit. In spirit of sharing with you, my loyal Mammylings, our progress I unveil the first commissioned study by Joe-Mammy.com:

4 out of 5 school-age children love Bruce Campbell and Joe-Mammy.com. Thanks to our tireless researchers we've managed to confirm what we've all long suspected--someone didn't get their nap today, did they?

So, join us in our collective crossing of fingers that Bruce will grace us with his presence and that a new dawn of Joe-Mammy.com will rise and shine down upon all of us.
Amen.

Greetings from Tundraville

Well, I've been intermittently staring at this blank screen for a while. And, believe it or not, simply staring at it doesn't make it fill up with witty banter, clever observations or insightful social commentary. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem typing is especially helpful at the moment, either.

I'm tired. I'm up waaaaay too late right now. And I'm cold. Very cold. My feet ache because they're so cold. I love winter almost as one would love scabies, ringworm or testicular cancer.

I so need to get out of here.

What was lost...

Mornin' Comrades.

Well, I've been busy tonight, primarily fighting with my systems and such, but I also got some other stuff done including running across a bit of history I thought was gone forever.

I produced (and I do use "produced" in a very very loose kind of way) a crude demo for someone towards the end of working on Who Loves Ya? It had some hits and some misses (and "misses" should probably be with a capital "M") but it was a fun experience (actually doing it, not the BS that accompanied dealing with an ingrate...) and it's got some highlights. Actually, "Bats" and "Lonesome Song" were from that project, both good tunes and alas I can take credit for only the latter. Anyway, I misplaced the source CD for that some time ago and tonight, of all stupid things, managed to find it. So now I've once again got all nine songs that feature, among other things of high comedy, me playing accordion and a punk song (mixed horribly) featuring a conga as the rhythm section (!?!). I was young, but I've learned and hopefully I'll make all new mistakes this time around.

Also finally got around to doing the big ol' "Best/Worst o' 2004" movie review thing done tonight. Not sure when the next site update will be as my trusty boy Dust is busy compiling a resume/portfolio at his new improved Platypus Man website. But, when he is done, boy are we going to have some fun news for you Mammyland faithful. Trust me, it'll be cool. Swear to God.

Anyway, no other nifty links for you all today. Sorry, get your giggles somewhere else, but think of me when you do.

That's not pathetic, is it?

I sure do write a lot about Britney Spears...

It
is
fa-reeeking
Cold.

Let the light of truth shine upon this fact:
It is ass cold and it sucks.

Anyway, I picked up this little gem courtesy of IMDB:

Britney Spears has ventured behind the camera to co-direct her first pop video - in preparation for her assault on Hollywood. The "Toxic" beauty put her directorial skills into practice when she helped create the promo for her tune "Do Something" in New York last month. And Spears hopes the video will show studio heads she has the talent to score success as a movie-maker - especially since she's already devoting much of her spare time to writing scripts for big screen musicals. She says, "I made a cute video for 'Do Something.' We shot the entire thing in a record-breaking five hours. I even came up with all the choreography and styled the entire shoot myself. I've been working on writing and hopefully directing a musical that makes fun of Hollywood."

Dear Britney,
You are what's stupid about Hollywood. And I don't want to see a musical about it. I have to see it every damn time you decide to a) marry some schlub you knew in high school b) marry some schlub you met dancing for you or c) the rare times there isn't some pressing bit of Paris Hilton news. Did you even watch "Crossroads"? Frankly, I don't think we can get to the "Behind the Music"/"Where are they Now?" portion of your career fast enough at this point.

Sincerely,
The Entire Friggin' World.

Sailing the Seas o' Cheese

Hey kiddies.

I'm a-feelin' sick and got next to nothing done. Well, that's not exactly true, but what I did get accomplished this weekend will have to wait until an appropriate time. Needless to say, I'm going to bed. I'm having more fun than words can express.

Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong pile of words...
