yawwwwwwwwwwwwn

I'm so tired it hurts. Not in a good way either, but in a "I feel like I've just been beaten by a group politically leftist dwarves who took my lunch money" kinda way. Not to beat a dead horse (or beat any kind of horse, really...) but Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters interview is up in the Features section and is worth a look. Check out the rest of 'em too, while you're there. If you read it enough times it'll count for college credit. Honest.

Not sure what the rest of the week has in store yet. Should work on some more tuneage, but time being the fickle little beast it is, it's hard to say. Also should do a little editing of previous stories so they're at least presentable at some point.

On a sadder note, the Cardinals have officially lost their first road series of the year. Almost made it to July *sigh* oh well, just have to settle for being the best team in the National League I suppose. Speaking of which, I will probably try and put together a little something for The Birdhouse in the next day or so, so you can always take a gander there if you're having yourself a Jonesing for the Joe.

I'm going to sleep now.
Just try and stop me...

BTW, Happy Birthday to Vincent D'Onofrio--the one thing that makes NBC watchable nowadays...

J to da oe...

Wow, sorry for the delay folks in keeping you apprised of all things right and beautiful in scenic Mammyland. As you may or may not have noticed, the long-awaited interview with Jamie Hyneman is up and tis greatly sweet. Check it out, tell a friend, heck, tell two. They'll thank you later.

So what all have I been up to? It's been largely productive. There are some changes coming for the lil' site and Platypus Man and my self have been planning the new look and features. We might just make this little sucker respectable yet. Also finished up editing and preparing the next interview (and no, I'm not giving it away just yet...) and it's also a dandy.

On top of all that I've signed on to help the good folks at The Birdhouse with my occasional thoughts on the world of baseball and the Cardinals. It's a good site and I hope I just don't make an ass of myself. My first entry is already up over there so check it out if you're so inclined.

And finally I've finished a draft version of a new song for lilies of the field. It's called When You're Asleep and it marks the halfway point of the album. At my present pace that means the album will be done... well, eventually.

So, to sum up:

Hall of Heroes

Alright, a little melodramatic, I grant, but the b-days keep coming hard and fast.

First, a belated birthday wish to my man, car-god extraordinaire: The Chad. He's the one who almost has a branch on Joe-Mammy.com with the BBC page (still waiting on those pictures... *sigh*)

Secondly, his royal Joss-ness, Joss Whedon tacks on another year today. Happy Birthday all, keep on rockin' the free world, rocking like a hurricane and other such classic rock anthems containing the word "rock."

Lates...

Who's the leader of the club that's made for you and me?

Groovy birthday wishes going out to the one, the only, the pinnacle of western civilization: Bruce Campbell. So everyone get on with your bad primitive screwhead selves and send the man some birthday love.

Tell 'em Joe sent ya...

It's like eating a vat of meat through your internet connection!

Another weekend in the salt mines (ooooo, low carbs...) is in the drawer of forgettable memories. Yippee-ki-yay. So what's on tap this week you ask? Well, first off the Joe-Mammy.com interview with Jamie Hyneman should be up at some point (hopefully). Keep checking back to the Features page for more interviewin' love from your favorite webslave.

Finally the rejection letters are starting to show up. I was starting to think they'd forgotten about me. Good to know that on some basic (albeit less than flattering) kind of way I'm still worthy of a mass-produced mailer that nicely states that I might be a very good writer--but they don't think so. At least it's better than the crap one I got right away. (Check ancient blog entries for that lil beaut...)

Find out what the editors very well may like (in general, not specifically mine, though. Although I might be a very talented writer...) at the little Fiction Depot, heck, read "Dinnertime" while yer at it. It's Atkins approved!

Not sure what else is going to happen this week. It's looking dauntingly busy at this point, although I'd like for there to be some sort of forward progress. I'll keep you posted (no pun intended...)

Timecard

Well, another brief respite from the daily grind has come to a close. It'll be another weekend of mirth and merriment, I'm sure. In either case just some general newsiness for all you.

The interview with Jamie Hyneman should hopefully be up in the next week or so. Check the Features page for the latest and rockinest interviews since the invention of the wet nap. Heck, check out the Fiction page while yer at it: happy good story time for all the boys and girls.

No new work on lilies of the field but I kinda warned you that might happen, so don't be mad (I can change, baby, I swear...) However I am constantly working on lining up the next batch of interviews for the Features page and hopefully will have some more good news on that front soon. As it stands we have Jamie and then another as-yet-unidentified subject (but it rules, I assure you...) so June/July should be a happy fun time for all you kids looking for that trademark Joe-Mammy goodness.

There are changes on the horizon here at Joe-Mammy.com, so stay tuned and prepare your bladders for immediate release for they shall be sweet...

Don't... try... the swordfish...

Hola Bandidos.

Well, another coupla days in the trenches and now for a bit of freedom. Can't promise much, I've already got a full plate it would seem, but you never know, something might make its way out of the woodwork.

Speaking of which, the Fiction page has finally been updated with the brand-spankin' new, never before seen by human eyes "A Fairy Tale." You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll crave bacon and eggs.

Just got the latest interview in (after the upcoming interview with Jamie Hyneman--which should hopefully appear sometime next week, give or take...) and it's another dandy. And no, I'm still not telling who it is. You'll just have to keep checking back (and check out our latest offering, Ms Tess Wiley as well as the other luminaries who have graced the Features section to date.

Well, this is brief, but I still need to do the sleep thing for a few hours. Keep yer sticks on the ice...

Puttin' the "In effect" in "ineffective"... ya dig?

Well, another weekend has come and (largely) gone. So what of Joe-Mammy.com, you ask? Well, let's see. A little work got done on "lilies of the field" but not enough to feel that good about. I got some miscellaneous goodness taken care of (which doesn't concern you good people just yet, but does involve the next interview for the Features page. Which is a nice way of saying I'm not telling you about it yet...)

I got the wee devil pups out for a good walk, although I'm pretty sure that doesn't interest you. I haven't done my reviews yet ("Stepford Wives" is the suck...) but still might get 'em done tonight. All in all I'm amazed at my lack of forward progress. It's downright breathtaking, honestly. But in all fairness, things were done, just not the Promethean kind of effort I was hoping for. Must be stress. Or jaundice. Maybe a nasty case of the prickly heat. Or just nose cancer.

Fear not, for your intrepid tour guide through the world of Mammydom (ie, Joe) presses on. Not sure exactly where things are going yet. Sometimes it takes me a little more time to get revved up for this kind of thing than I think it does. In either case, more is on the horizon. Cross my heart...

Joe works hard for the money... so hard for the money...

Salutations humble readers (or at least you're humble, or at least not mean, or smelly...) Back in the mines working on "lilies of the field." Finally got the ol' software up and chugging away happily so my excuses are gone *sigh* I shall miss them.

Anyway, hopefully I'll get another song done this weekend, get the grand total to six. Another 5-7 after that and I just might have an album. At this point I've got some fragments I'm trying to get together, but sadly what I'm coming up with doesn't go with any of the lyrics I've got. Oh well, at least one pile in the "Ready to go" stack is growing.

In other news, as was announced in the extra special neat-o audio post from the little studio here at Crabbey Road, Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters is going to be the next extra special interview subject. For the uninitiated, Mythbusters is probably the most rockin' show on Discovery and one of my top five current favorites (probably top 3 now that they managed to kill Angel...) Anyway, check it out and get familiar with the sheer coolness that is Jamie Hyneman and then come trotting back here for the interview.

And just so you guys know I'm always watching out for ya, the next interview has already been lined up and should be conducted sometime next week. I'm not going to give away who it is, but needless to say it's another deeply rockin' subject who's been doing great work for years. Stay tuned.

I'm the Casbah, rock me...

First, not that I need to say anything, but Tess...

Second, not sure when the fiction update is coming. Should be soon. Could be tomorrow. Then again, maybe not. Tough to say. Short sentences--they be the bomb. Oh yeah.

The next interview has been conducted, and in a week or so I'll let it drop who's gonna be the lucky individual to featured on the one, the only, Joe-Mammy.com. One word hint: Cool.

Music gear showed up, too. Gonna get to that next (as soon as I wrap up here) and hopefully start making some progress on stuff. I'm mulling over what to post as a teaser track. I think I've figured out what the first "official" release is going to be, but just not sure when it's going to happen. Stayed tuned.

Ummmm, think that's the long and the short of it for the moment. Finished the short story and initial reread at least assured me it's not a lost cause. Not sure if/when it'll show up here, but let's just all take comfort in knowing I actually accomplished something? Splendid...

The Complete Joe (Abridged)

I'm tired. Must sleep.

#1 Story is done. Draft only, but done. I'm no longer a liar. Let's all come together and say "whee!"

#2 Tess interview is up. Tis ruling. Tis ruling in a dictator for life fact kind of way. Obey the Tess Interview!

#3 Still not asleep. Curses!

#4 Music forthcoming. Lil' break from writing, or at least that's the plan.

#5 Fiction page update very soon.

#6 Cardinals 9-1 in last 10. Kickin' and takin' names.

#7 Next interviews have been arranged (one already conducted). Love the Tess, but come back for the new stuff too. I'll let more out when it gets closer.

#8 No poofters

#9 Python references are cool, no?

#10 A nice round number for me to end on. How convenient.

Who's yer monkey?

Ok, I'm still a liar. The short story has gone unfinished for another few days. Maybe today or tomorrow, but I'm just about done promising anything as far as actually completing the thing. It should be soon, but I don't want to jinx myself.

Something I will promise is that there are some absolutely kickin' things coming up in the next couple months for Joe-Mammy.com. The Tess interview is just the tip of the iceberg (and it's a rockin' iceberg if Tess is on it anywhere, IMO...) I'm not going to spill the secret, but the next two Features have been tentatively nailed down and they are, as the French would say: SWEET!

In other updates, the music gear is starting to trickle in, so you never know, new tuneage my soon be showing up, perhaps even the long-awaited lilies of the field--but again, I'm not promising.
