All Joe! All Live!

Well, my first public reading was tonight.

It didn't suck.

Of course I wasn't in the audience (insert rimshot)

It was okay I suppose. I didn't have any forewarning on the audience (majority was 60+) or size (as in number of people, not their collective builds...). Needless to say the "Joe Mammy Experience" is probably not most at home in this setting. But it did get a few laughs (I chose "A Fairy Tale" which is available for absolutely free in the Fiction area...) so apparently my humor is neither as subtle nor as unfunny as it could have been. So, you know, that's something.

Now I'm relaxing, watching a little "Flying Circus" and digesting my Arby's dinner. And the Devil Pups are sacked out. It's almost picturesque, would probably be moreso if it were winter and there was a fireplace. Of course I'd be probably wanting a bit of brandy and bellyaching that I'm freezing my butt off. No pleasing some people I suppose.

what am i thinking in the name of dear god its me margaret anyways???
im going to try the Da vinci method on sleeping. go like 4-5 hours non stop then take 20 minute naps.
im going to try another 40 hour week job combined with my other job at the Y. this other one starts at 2pm-10 30 pm
then go to the Y till 6 am. hopefully i can do it. i want some freckin money man. no actually what i want is a big screen TV. is that 2 much to ask? anyways....book readings i thought were given to snobby rich professor kids smoking pipes and drinking scotches and wearing sweaters tied around there necks. I didnt think the nursing home's did do such things.

A common misconception--trust me, all the scotch drinking went on beforehand... at least by me. And it wasn't a "book" reading, but a short story reading. So, you know, there was no possibility for money. So, yeah, I suffer for my art.

Here's a little something, looks like a David Lynch home video. Watch and be amazed (or horrified...)

it wasnt anything quite what i was thinking. maybe morbid is the word? forgive my cynicalisms. 2 weeks without smoking. on the patch. hooray.

I don't know, but I probably won't sleep well for a couple days either way :) Yikes.

Mikey, not smoking? Holy Cow!

if you were on the davinci sleeping pattern it wouldnt affect you that much.
anyways i dont like that tap dancing video. no more please!. well ok maybe one more if its really more inhumane. i dont mind. u picking up madden 2006?
# posted by tiny dancer : 7:24 AM

Trust me, I really don't want to see another tap dancing video, either. And I've never been a huge Madden fan. I think the last one I realy played was the first or second one they put out for Sega Genesis. Even then I prefered Bill Walsh College Football. So, yeah, never did much for me...
# posted by Joe : 11:22 AM

actually, I was trying to remember that game just the other night. I work at the Y so there is some jocks there saying there hoopla about games. I never played football game unless it was called blitz. anyways i woulda shut them up if i would have remembered that game. they were talking college games. it doesnt matter. no...find another one of those clips. please. i keep watching the same one over and over. boring.
# posted by mike : 6:07 PM

i forgot to mention that i just purchased half life2 for pc and it comes with like 6 mods for it. well, one mod is actually rather cool and i think you'd like it. but u have these discs for weapons and you have to jump around to certain points that allows you to keep jumping. i think youd like it. what sux about multiplayer online is the shitty lag. gawd i ahte that.
# posted by mike : 6:14 PM

I've actually played that and I SUCK at it. Ick. I like the killing and carnage and all that progressive sensitive male kinda stuff.

I picked up Battlefield 2 the other day, but haven't even played it yet. I need to get it going, it looks sweet but, yeah, just haven't gotten around to it...

That really didn't go anywhere, did it?
# posted by Joe : 10:48 AM

well it only goes anywhere if anybody else read it. im jealous! i want battlefield 2. my video card couldnt hold up no way. what have u got in your system?. not only can you buy a video card thats just beastly you can get two video cards for one system. unbeleiveable. i mean what cant you do with two 6800 geforce's that you cant do with one? you know what i mean? I think its alot of crap personally. i would take one of them dual processors none the less.
ur book is rather interesting. good stuff.
# posted by mike : 11:43 PM

Poor sucker, actually reading the book. Didn't I tell you that it's best used as a drink coaster?

Irony of ironies, B2 doesn't work on my system. I've got a 128mg video card, but the chipset is too old so I get to either take a mulligan on the game or drop another $100 for a newer video card. Decisions, decisions.

You check out the CD at all yet?
# posted by Joe : 1:13 AM

no im sorry not yet. im going to right now. now i feel better im not the only guy with an outdated video card. you drop 50 bucks on that game? or did you buy it used at that place in the mall. Fargo doesnt have a joint like that and i wish they did. and if they do i dont know about it. im waiting for my boss to call me. i filled out an application at this other place and i dont know what he'll say about that because it interfers a little with the y's hours. not by much about 3 hours a week. which issnt bad. u should buy day of defeat for 20 bucks. www.steam.com. we could "frag" some doodes on it. starsky and hutch..steve mcqueen and charles bronson. napolean and darth vader?
# posted by mike : 10:47 AM

I got a pretty decent deal on it, $30 give or take on eBay. Good luck on the job. I think I might have Day of Defeat already, isn't that the WWII shooter?
# posted by Joe : 3:37 PM

sure is. i havent played it much i just got it last week. im still cheating in call of duty as of now. you buy alot of stuff off of ebay? i want to i just dont want to get scammed. i feel like im going to somehow. man...remember playing all them nintendo games together. iqari warriors and double dragon. hours. and its all ur fault.
# posted by mike : 4:25 PM

I buy some stuff on eBay. You just have to shop smart--I usually go with guys with a good track record who clearly outline shipping costs, payment details, etc. I've had good experiences overall.

How is you playing video games my fault? If you recall you're the one who first got a Nintendo and got me hooked. So you're the jerk, jerk!
:P
# posted by Joe : 5:19 PM

this is why we need better video cards. http://megagames.com/news/redir.cgi?http://www.callofduty.com/cod2/. look at that. its on its on its on on on on. if it wasnt for u cheating at iqari warriors we couldve beaten it. instead of getting missled.
# posted by mike : 1:13 AM

Me cheating? You're so full of crap. I learned something potentially more disturbing about the creepy tap dancing video (courtesy of Compfused)
Apparently "The Goddess Bunny" as "she" is known is actually a transvestite as if things could not be any stranger. "She" also has her own movie

The Goddess Bunny has, um, her own movie and I can't get a book deal? Maybe I should take up dance...
# posted by Joe : 6:15 PM

hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. thats awesome. the goodness bunny. is that downloadable?. if so i want to own it. yeah man nobody wants a good talented writer nowdays. the more @#$%#$@!!! you are the better chances of succeding is. look at the midgets. everybody loves midgets. midgets this midgets that. littleme how cool was he?. you might not live very long but at least youll have money and chicks well, at least money anyways. but then again if you have lots of money you get chicks or apparantley transvestite gimps. trying to imitate fats domino. dont give up man. if worse comes to worst you can always cut like half of your leg off and see how that feels and if your ok cut the other one off half the size of that other one. that just might be crazy enough to work. like my pappy used to say dont scratch your head if it doesnt itch and dont eat when your full or something. meaning...dont let the gimps and midgets get the best of you. I dont and im doing fine. other then this lump in the back of my head.}
cheating dude come off. "I couldnt beat ghost n goblins then i found some cheat codes that will get me past that mission then i finally beat it". . I run codbot for call of duty i can toggle it on and off. i get massive kills 60-12. once i even got to 203 kills. i love it and im ok with that. and i never knew the abbabba codes. like you did.
# posted by mike : 5:43 AM

That was one of the most surreal "stream of consciousness" things I've seen in a while.

Ghost n' Goblins was evil and there's no shame in using a code to beat a stupid game that I paid good money to enjoy. So bite me, Mr "auto-aim hack" wussy boy.

And check online, they have "The Goddess Bunny" for sale on some sites...
# posted by Joe : 12:33 PM

haha..but i do it for enjoyment purposes only. dude i got an interview today at 2 30. and that "wussy boy" comment I'll ignore for now. You'll be biting me once you get Call of duty 2. I dont call myself "Jesus Bee good Honey" for nothing.
and if your thinking ummm. wait a minute here who said Im getting Call of Duty 2? i did.
# posted by mike : 4:08 AM

"Jesus Bee good Honey"? Good Lord.

I'll get "Call of Duty 2" as soon as you buy it for me, junior.

Lemme know how the interview goes...
# posted by Joe : 10:23 AM

boy everybody acts so tough on the internet. like my pops used to say stick and stones may break your bones but noobs they will always make your day. Im on my way now to go see if i can work another job so I can support some bum off the street who cant work more then 4 hours at Labor ready in a day. that was almost kinda funny. Its like that lady whos protesting the war on Georgie's farmstead. Oh im sorry your son sighned up for the military to get his college paid for. Im sure he wasnt thinking he had to actually fight for his country. And im sure GWB is going to stop everything just for you. since your kid wanted to be some electical engineer because it was his calling, were going to put a halt on this. are you kidding me?
# posted by your son.... : 11:40 AM

Um, yeah... and the horse you rode in on!

Or something...
# posted by Joe : 1:33 PM

ok so i go down there wait 25 minutes for an interview. sit and talk to 2 morons about this job. then they tell me we have more people to interview. if we want you we'll call if not you'll receive a letter. ok let me get this right.
first of all my friend runs that crew of 6 people. then he tells me that they cant keep anybody working. people quit left and right. alot of foreigners, alot of weirdo's. my kind of place right. so basically...i come to you for a job you didnt come to me. im here ready to work and your going to tell me your gonna send me a letter?. ok spend the 40 cents and mail me my rejection papers. i dont want to waste my time there anyways or on you or your cheap suits you bought at the goodwill store at the discount secetion. ma god. im going to frame those papers.
# posted by mike : 6:20 AM

Isn't job hunting fun? I've had my share of people lately not living up to the expectations they hold others to. It's stupid and frustrating. People are dumb.
# posted by Joe : 12:21 PM

i tell ya its like they know u have experience in whatever it is your applying for. but, somehow they usually pick somebody with les experience. and its not like im walking in there demanding all this pay. so what do they want? less experience..no experience..or a bill fulton you know?
# posted by mike : 3:24 AM

And from both the customer and the job-seeker standpoint it seems like they're looking for the bottom of the barrel. Why? I'm not sure I'd be any smarter if I had an answer...
# posted by Joe : 2:08 PM

heres my 2 cents baout it. North Dakota sucks balls. god dam cowboy menatality. grab da teet ma we guts some suckin ta dooo. Either you have to come off as dumb as Fulton or you have to say something like im a software engineer. or, your folks have had a name for having some money. im serious when i say that. i dont think anybody is going anywhere if they stay in this state. go 2 states away its like a whole new world. People are different mentality is different living is different. even the hot dogs are different. whats this state have to offer? Gov. Hoeven ?
# posted by mike : 5:26 AM

I don't know, I've been around a bit and I think it tends to be a lot more universal than just one specific state. They might put a different face on it, but people are people. I'd like to be wrong but there's too much stupid and pointless that just continues year after year for no other reason than no one seems to think things should be better.

Just my two cents.
# posted by Joe : 1:53 PM

i have a screen shot for you to see. ok people might be the same but the politics are way different. its like in minot you dont dare quit your job cause you know its gonna be hell to find a job within the next 6 months.

heres a good laugh. lame i know but cheerful none the less.

man i hear ya i underdstand and respect that. People are people. true to what degree tho? how many follow.
if everybody would quit driving for 3 days or so i bet it would be different. in the words of "huggy bear" were always cool breeze now lower your pieces. i love that movie.
what are you listening to now? whats in your player playa?
# posted by mike : 1:42 PM

Actually, I've been getting the final mix of lilies of the field together so that's been pretty much omnipresent in the player. There's a release date, kids. Sept 20th. Mark your calenders and get ready. Assuming the cover art is done (which it should be...) so yeah, that's been keeping me busy. Other than that spinning some old Mike Knott, some newer NIN and some Willie Nelson (yeah, I know it doesn't really jibe with the other stuff, but "Stardust" is good stuff, Maybard...)

So, yeah, that's me...

What did you think of the demo?
# posted by Joe : 11:54 PM

i cant give you an honest response because i havent listened to all of it yet. I will however will listen to it.
i got my papers from that job. and tell ya the truth im glad i did. we should have become cops man. time killers.
# posted by mike : 10:19 AM

# posted by Joe : 3:36 PM

rejection notice. thank you for your interst bla bla bla however we are still looking at other applications.
they prbly like hiring out people from temp. cheaper i suppose.
# posted by mike : 5:10 AM

Ah. Been getting my share of those lately (see recent posts about book submissions). I've stopped trying to guess what they're looking for and I'm really starting not to care, either.

So it goes.
